This is a large-scale project organized by Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency Theatre and Performing Arts Directorate. Held in several European culture cities, this project is an international platform for the creating of new choreographies. As a means to investigate the present and future of dance art, the platform aims to gather all creative performers, academics, and researchers, actively involved in contemporary and classical dance arts from Turkey and especially local and foreign dance artists under the same roof. To last for eight days, the platform will host many activities including roundtables on choreography, performances, master classes, workshops, debates, seminars, panels, video sessions etc. Taking Modern/Contemporary Dance as its main bases, Dance Platform Istanbul covers a wide and colourful range of dance genres: classical ballet, yoga, tango, flamenco, jazz dance, hip-hop, break-dance, capoeira etc. The Platform will be uniting renowned international guests, senior professional choreographers, along with free-lance choreographers and young dancers currently receiving education. Furthermore, with the cooperation of cultural attaché offices, the project will be launching DANSLab, which will support certain European choreographers make joint productions with the professional groups, involved in modern and contemporary dance, in Istanbul.
