09.03.2010 – Marmaris, Mugla – Arzu Diramali at Marmaris International Yacht Club (MIYC) in Turket advises Maritime Media: MIYC Announces 29th Marmaris Yacht Charter Show.
The Marmaris Yacht Charter Show began as a small get together: in 1980, three sailing yachts invited a small number of Yacht Charter Agents to join them for a short cruise along the Turkish Coast. . . and they all had an incredibly enjoyable time!
And so word got out that the Turkish Coast was a very unique and beautiful cruising ground. Prompted by the heightened level of interest in the destination, the pioneers of the Turkish yacht charter industry, Jillian and Jim Anderson (owner/operators of S/Y MOANA VAHINE) saw the need for a formal gathering of yachts and agents. May of 1981 saw the launching of the Marmaris Yacht Festival which was to become an annual event in which Yacht Charter Agents and Brokers from around the world were given an opportunity to see the “Turkish Fleet” of charter yachts, meet their crew and familiarize themselves with the area.
Over the years, the event grew to encompass more activities, including a fun race around Marmaris Bay, a Spring Regatta and a Trade Show with numerous local and national exhibitors. From sleek classic sailing yachts to traditionally-designed Turkish vessels and from high-tech cruisers to megayachts, the Marmaris Yacht Festival has been a showcase for them all and is today an internationally-recognised yachting event attracting as many as 30 yacht charter agents and twice as many yachts.

Devonport OneSixty concept launched with Emocean Yacht Design. Devonport, the UK’s leading builder of bespoke superyachts over 70m, have launched the design for what will be one of their largest most expensive superyachts to date, the Devonport OneSixty.
Created by Berkely March and Stefen Vennekens of Emocean Yacht Design, the 165 metre Devonport Onesixty is a truly audacious yacht concept, unrivalled in both size and luxury.
According to Berkeley March, the Devonport OneSixty will also be completely unique: “this vessel is of a completely bespoke design and equipment, styling, configuration and class. She will be completely tailored to the desires and tastes of the client”.
Key features of the design will include 17 VIP rooms accommodating up to 32 guests, an underwater observation deck, a mini-submarine, an indoor swimming pool and a helicopter hangar.
There is even an onboard nightclub to keep guests entertained in the evening. She will have a cruising speed of 20 knots.
Berkely hopes that the concept will be well received in the marketplace: “A happy client and an elegantly designed, technically capable superyacht. That’s what it’s all about.”
